写真家／マルチメディア・アーティスト
『ヴォーグ』や『アーキテクチュアル・ダイジェスト』等といった国際的に影響力を持つ雑誌のライターとしても活躍する。
1980年代、ニューヨークの美術界に注目し、今では伝説となったアーティストたちとの書籍制作プロジェクトでコラボレーションをする。
ハーゲンバーグが撮影したジャン・ミッシェル・バスキアの写真は、国際的な回顧展やカタログで定期的に紹介されている。
最近では、ロンドンのバービカン、フランクフルトのシアン美術館、パリのルイ・ヴィトン財団、東京六本木アーツセンターでの展覧会でもで取り上げられた。
2010年、日本の建築家である藤森照信や原広司らの設計によるマイクロ住宅を建設するための『ライディング・プロジェクト』を立ち上げる。
（ライディングとは、ウイーンの近くにある村の名、作曲家フランツ・リストの生誕地でもある）
日本の現代建築に関する書籍は英語、日本語、中国語で出版され、2014年、オーストリア観光局より最優秀革新賞を受賞。
さらに演劇脚本である『ジェットラグ』は2018年10月と11月、ミュンヘンのラショナルシアターで上演された。
Roland Hagenberg is a multi-media artist and a writer for international magazines such as Vogue and Architectural Digest. During the 1980s he documented the art world in New York and collaborated on book projects with now legendary artists. His photographs of Jean-Michel Basquiat are regularly featured in international retrospective shows and catalogues ‒ most recently at the Barbican in London, the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris and the Roppongi Arts Center in Tokyo. In 2010 Hagenberg initiated the "Raiding Project" to build micro-houses designed by Japanese architects such as Terunobu Fujimori and Hiroshi Hara. (Raiding is the birthplace of composer Franz Liszt near Vienna). Hagenberg's books on Japanese architecture have been published in English, Japanese and Chinese. 2014 he received the Best Innovation Award by the Austrian Tourism Board. His Theater play "Jetlag" was performed at Rationaltheater in Munich in October and November 2018.
