小島康敬

KOJIMA Yasutaka

1977年東京生まれ。
2006年に渡米。ニューヨークを拠点に作品制作を続ける。
ICPのDirector's Scholarshipを受賞、平成２３年度文化庁・新進芸術家海外研修制度、研修員。
ニューヨークと東京で、個展・グループ展を開催。

Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1977.
A New York based Photographer since 2006.
Has been awarded ICP Director's scholarship and the Japanese Government's fellowship for artists.
Exhibited in New York and Tokyo.

わたしは常に大都市に"儚さ"を感じる。

すべての大都市は人間の欲望によって形成され、
そして、都市の大きさは欲望の大きさにより決めらていると思う。
都市に存在するすべてものは人間の意図によって成り立ち、
自然に四季があるように、都市も常にその姿を変容させていく。
かつての透視図法的な意味を失った都市空間が、崩れ、
膨張してきた都市の内部で、人間的な主体の位置が行方不明になってきた、
その時間の記録。

まるで人の欲望が消えたかのような、
人為と自然にある境界線に都市の未来を見る。

それらが、自分の目の前から消えてしまう前に
写真を通して記録していきたいと思っている。

"Tokyo"

I have been recording cityscape of Tokyo since 2008.
The city gives me a sense of evanescence. All the cities are formed by man's greed and the depth of it decides the size of the cities.
Every single thing existing in the cities is consisted by man intentionally. The cities transforms themselves every moment like the nature does.
The city in the period of time where our identity and subjectivity has been lost in the urban environment.
The city has lost traditional meaning of the perspective structure and collapsed and expanded itself beyond men's intention.

I see the future of the cities in the boundary of humans and the nature as if man's greed were disappeared.

I want to record it by photography before it disappears.
